Hope With Every Step
In developing countries, 6 million children die each year, mostly from hunger-related causes. Each of these children has a name, a face and a longing for a better future.
The Run For Hungry Children is all about kids. Bright Hope works with 22 projects that directly serve children in need. The majority of these children are orphaned or abandoned, hungry and desperate, lonely and confused. Our partners work to see that these children are given food, clothing, schooling and hope.
It is all too common for children around the globe, particularly in Africa, Asia and Latin America, to go days on end with desperately hungry stomachs. Bright Hope has committed to these children by providing relief through various Orphans and Vulnerable Children programs around the world. 100% of the funds raised at the race will go to our Orphans and Vulnerable Children's Programs. Here is a sample of the projects that will receive these funds:

Kenya
Home to 55 orphans, many of whom are AIDS orphans, the Nguluni orphanage and school are part of a larger community development project. Nguluni is a very poor village east of Nairobi surrounded by grasslands. Water is available only by digging large holes in the ground and allowing rain water to fill the hole. By the end of the dry season, only mud is left. Like most cities in Kenya, HIV/AIDS is rampant, many schools are substandard, and drought and meager crops devastate the economy and leave everyone hungry. Click to learn more.

Uganda
The small town of Katosi is home to many people who are trapped in the vicious cycle of poverty. Education is provided by the government for a fee which most families cannot afford to pay. As a result, only 20% of the children in Katosi make it to the 7th grade. The Katosi Community Center is a response to the needs of the people in Katosi. Developed by local church pastors and administered by church members, Katosi Community Center provides education, nourishment and love, and for those who need it, a home. Currently 127 orphans are receiving food on a daily basis. Click to learn more.
