Fundraising Tips

There are two easy ways to raise funds this year!

1. Manage your pledges online:

Bright Hope has made the pledge process easier than ever. You can create your own fundraising web page for the 2010 Run for Hungry Children. Your network of family, friends and co-workers can make their donations online.

They will receive your request and thank you via e-mail. Track your progress online and send your goals to your personal network. You can even create a fundraising team to raise funds as a group consisting of your family, friends and co-workers.

2. Pledge Form:

If you would rather take pledges with a pledge form, you can download an official Run for Hungry Children pledge form. Please turn in all pledge forms with donations at the May 15 event.

Ways To Make Fundraising FUN!

There are many ways to get your family and friends involved:

  • Add a Picture of YOU:Smiling, running, silly, serious- people want to give to YOUR cause.
  • Tell Your Own Story: Add the reason why you chose to run, how long you've been a runner, or what projects Bright Hope does that really mean a lot to you.
  • Email: Your Friends and Family you're Fundraising Page.
  • Facebook A Tweet: Update your Facebook status, Tweet and email about this commitment you've made to run. Send it to everyone you know!
  • Update Often: With fundraising goals and new wording to keep your supporters informed.

The Mathare Valley Slum, in the heart of the city of Nairobi, holds more than half a million people. Living conditions are horrific, with no basic infrastructure like a sewer system. Disease runs rampant. The government has already declared the food situation a national disaster, and the need here is critical. The most affected are the children, many of whom are orphans. The education of some children at Mathare is made possible by our feeding program which has kept a majority of the children in school and off the streets. This is the only meal most of the children receive all day. Every day 1,300 children from ages 4 to 15 are fed once.
